William P. Long

William P. Long, 85, of Amherst, NH passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side. William was born in Amherst, NH on September 17, 1931, to Charles and Ruth (Townes) Long, where he lived all his life. William served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later worked at Lorden Lumber Company in Milford for most of his life and then was self-employed as a logger. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He most especially loved being together with his family and spending time with his great grandson, Hayden. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Ruth Long Worrad. William is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sally (Spooner) Long of Amherst; two daughters, Susan Long of Merrimack, NH, Roberta Potter and her husband, Seth of Amherst; two granddaughters, Cassandra Hujsak and her husband, Keith of Amherst and Amanda Potter of Natick, MA; his beloved great grandson, Hayden Beauchesne of Amherst; a brother, Alvin Long; and several nieces. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Opportunity Networks, 11 Caldwell Drive #7, Amherst, NH 03031.
