William J. Jordan

William J. “Bill” Jordan, 79, resident of Amherst, NH, died on November 24, 2018 at his home. He was born on March 9, 1939 in Boston, MA, the son of William H. Jordan and Ellen (Fournier) Jordan. He was raised and educated in Charlestown, MA. Following graduation, Bill entered the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War era. He was honorably discharged in 1969 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Marine Corps, Bill studied Uechi-Ryu Karate in Okinawa, and had attained the level of 2nd degree brown belt. His appreciation for Japanese culture remained a theme throughout his adult life. Bill was renowned for his sushi meals and lessons, which he was willing to provide to family and friend alike. Though he was raised in the city, Bill learned to ride horses in the rodeo and often attended bull riding events when the opportunity presented itself. He was particularly fond of the rodeo and barbecue at the Buffalo Chip Saloon in Cave Creek Arizona. For more than 20 years Bill made his home in Epping, NH and has resided in Amherst, NH for the past 16 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and was an avid New England sports fan; especially the Red Sox and Bruins. In his youth, he was the drum major of the Majestic Knights in Charlestown Ma. In his later years, his hobbies largely revolved around his wife and adult children’s pursuits, and he would ambitiously climb behind the wheel to get to races, matches, fishing trips, and golf outings. Bill’s career took many turns. From the Marine Corps to Air Traffic Control, carpentry, high volume technology manufacturing and finally to real estate, there was no profession that Bill was unwilling to try. His exemplary dedication lead him to a great number of successes and friendships in his professional life. Nowhere was this more evident than at Teradyne in Nashua where he met and married his wife Kathleen. He is survived by family members including his wife, Kathleen (Hineman) Jordan of Amherst, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Jordan and Tom Cassetty of Nashua, NH; three sons and daughters-in-law, Matt and Flora Jordan of Nashua, NH, Derek and Shannon Jordan of Holliston, MA, Ryan and Terry Jordan of Chandler, AZ; a stepson, Brad Deveau and his wife Sarah of Travelers Rest, SC; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his cousin Georgia Lippman. Visiting hours are on Wednesday, November 28th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 29th in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford.
