William E. Von Iderstine

William E. (Bill) Von Iderstine, 55, of Milford, NH passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, August 7, 2013. Bill was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, a son of William B. and Rita (Saraceno) Von Iderstine and was a graduate of Milford Area High School in 1976. Bill was a finish carpenter who worked throughout the New England area. Bill was very athletic and excelled in high school football and baseball. He was the starting first baseman for Milford High School who won their only State Baseball Championship in 1976. He also was the starting first baseman for the Milford American Legion Baseball team who won their only State Championship in 1975. Bill was an avid sports fan. He loved to play golf and had played on many area softball teams including the Red Eyes Tavern, Milford Jacks and the Water Buffalos. The many close friends that he had made both on his school teams and in later years in softball meant a great deal to him. Bill was proud to have served as an assistant with the Milford High football program and helped with the field development at both the High School football and baseball fields. Bill is survived by two children; his son, Peter Von Iderstine of Milford and Amy Mann and her husband, Donn of New York, their son, Donn, and was happily anticipating the birth of their daughter in September. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Von Iderstine and his wife, Susannah of Ashland, NH; a sister, Cheryl Beaulieu and her husband, David of Milford. He leaves behind an uncle, Ernest Ciardelli and an aunt, Ruth Von Iderstine, both of Milford. Bill was blessed to be part of a large extended family and leaves behind many cousins, including his very special cousin who he loved like a “second sister”, Karen Johnson and her husband, Dale of Milford, and cousin, Donald Von Iderstine and his wife, Allison of Merrimack, NH. He also leaves behind a niece and nephew, Kathryn and William Von Iderstine of Ashland, NH, nephews, Derek and Dana Beaulieu of Milford, and Christopher Hoffman of Milford. Bill also leaves behind two dear friends whose loving care and support during his long illness and undying lifelong friendship meant everything to him; Rick Crocker of Amherst, NH and Steve Crocker of Nashua, NH. Memorial visiting hours are on Wednesday, August 14th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A memorial mass will be held on FRIDAY, August 16th at 11:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford.
