Wallace K. Hooper, 97, lifelong resident of Mont Vernon, NH died on January 3, 2023 at Crestwood Healthcare, Milford, NH.
Wallace was born in Nashua, NH on December 23, 1925, the son of Nathaniel Franklin and Helen L. (Kimball) Hooper.
He was raised and educated in Mont Vernon, NH and graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1943. He had been employed at the former Fletcher’s Paint Works, Milford for many years.
Wally was an avid gardener, who enjoyed woodworking and genealogy and was a descendant of a long line of lighthouse keepers. He and his wife, Charlene, operated the antique shop “Hilltop Nook” in Mont Vernon.
Over the years, Wally had been active in the Grange. He was a member of the Prospect Grange, Hillsborough County Pomona Grange, NH State Grange, National Grange and served over 35 years as a Deputy for the Subordinate Granges. In addition, he was a member of the Sons of Union Veterans and was an airplane spotter during WWII.
He was pre-deceased by a son, Robert W. Hooper; and two sisters, Rowena SooHoo and Marion Hooper Lounsbury.
Family members include his loving wife of 73 years, Charlene (Bohonan) Hooper of Milford, NH; six children and their spouses, Audrey Dolloff (Benjamin Sr.) of Murdo, South Dakota, Linda Riendeau (Walter Jr.) of Lyndeborough, NH, Laurie Ann Jolin (John) of Goffstown, NH, Jonathan R. Hooper (Brenda) of Brookline, NH, and Gary N. Hooper (Pamela) of Milford, NH; 13 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren and one due in April; three Great- Great Granddaughters; five nephews, Douglas, David and Donald Boissonnault, John Wright of Votaw, Texas, and Ed SooHoo of NJ; a niece, Mary SooHoo of NY; a foster son, William F. Gordon; and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
A visiting hour will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 10:00-11:00am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Activities Program at Crestwood, 40 Crosby Street, Milford, NH 03055 or to Southern NH Services, c/o Fuel Assistance, P.O.
