W. Scott Macewen

W. Scott MacEwen, 81, resident of Amherst, NH, died October 15, 2009 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, NH. He was born in Charleston, WV on March 26, 1928, a son of the late George T. & Byrel (Oldham) MacEwen. Mr. MacEwen was a graduate of Duke University, College of Engineering. He resided in Amherst for the past 30 years and formerly lived in Wellesley, MA for 20 years. Mr. MacEwen had been employed by Balzers International, Hudson, NH and had formerly worked at General Electric, Raytheon Corporation and Cryogenics Technology. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Amherst, a former member of the Amherst Lions Club and had also served on the Amherst Conservation Commission. In addition, he enjoyed gardening and golfing. Mr. MacEwen was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran having served during World War II. Family members include his wife of 60 years, Margaret (Coffey) MacEwen of Amherst, NH; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly & Martin Donovan of Canterbury, NH, Holly & Michael Krafka of Milford, MA; seven grandchildren, Scott Donovan, Meghan Chujko, Keith Donovan, Colleen Donovan, Luke, Peter and Nicholas Krafka; and one great grandchild, Drake Wallace Donovan. Visiting hours are Monday, October 19th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church of Amherst, 25 � Middle Street, Amherst. Burial with military honors will be in Meadowview Cemetery, Amherst, NH at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer�s Association, One Bedford Farms Drive, Suite 105, Bedford, NH 03110.
