Vileta C. Chase

Vileta C. Chase, 90, resident of New Ipswich, NH died on December 14, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born in Milford on February 27, 1922, a daughter of George and Vileta (Nelson) Chartier. She was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1940 and graduated from Keene State College, Class of 1944. Following graduation, she worked as a French teacher in Berlin, NH for several years. Mrs. Chase resided in New Ipswich for the past 16 years and formerly made her home in Milford for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Customer Service Manager for the Souhegan National Bank in Milford. Mrs. Chase was a writer and much of her children’s poetry had been published. In addition, she was an artist, and loved music, especially opera and playing the piano. Mrs. Chase also enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, and collecting and selling antiques. Over the years, she did extensive genealogical research and compiled a vast family genealogy. She loved history, particularly the middle ages and early American periods. Summer vacations every year in Bar Harbor were very special to her. She was predeceased by her former husband, Ralph R. Chase. Family members include two daughters, Linda D. Chase of New Ipswich, NH, Alison J. Chase and her fiancé, William A. Brown of Amherst, NH; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Lucille Chartier of Nashua, NH, and Robert and Betty Mae Chartier of Merrimack, NH; many nieces and nephews. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 21st at 11:00 am in Riverside Cemetery, 454 Nashua Street, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
