Velma-Ann “Rani” (Curtis) Poor, 74, lifelong resident of Milford, died June 14, 2012 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH. She was born in Goffstown, NH on December 1, 1937, a daughter of the late Henry M. “Jim” and Annie M. (Cluche) Curtis. Rani was employed by Label Art Company, Wilton, for 27 years and also as a substitute in food service for Milford schools after retiring. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their RV, visiting Maine and wintering in Florida, where she was a member of Florida’s Red Hat Society. She loved the beach. An active woman all of her life, she enjoyed exercising and power walking. Rani was a wonderful cook and loved spending time and caring for her family. She was the oldest of the eight Curtis girls and was very proud of that. Family members include her husband, James J. Poor, Sr. of Milford; a daughter, Lou-Ann Poor of Dublin, NH; a son, James J. Poor, Jr. of Bonita Springs, FL; two grandchildren, Keri-Ann Parodi and William James Cabana; seven younger sisters, Vivian Curtis of Milford, Beverly Brown of West Barnet, VT, Bonnie Chappell of Milford, Darlene Bishop of Milford, Brenda Jones of Orford, NH, Sally Chappell of Milford and Valarie Morrison of Springfield, MA; a sister-in-law, Judith Frank of Milford; many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are Tuesday, June 19th from 4:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be private for relatives. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at Grandview Farm, Federal Hill Road, Milford. Donations in her memory may be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center and mailed to Amy Schrom, Office of Development, Hinman 7070, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756-0001 and earmarked for the Leukemia Research Fund.
