Thelma S. Adams, 94, resident of Milford, NH, died October 3, 2009 at Crestwood Care & Rehabilitation Center, Milford, NH. She was born in Greenville, Maine on January 5, 1915, a daughter of the late John D. and Evelyn (Bodfish) Sweet. Mrs. Adams attended schools in Vermont and graduated from Peacham Academy, Class of 1933 and was a member of the Alumni Association. She had resided in Milford since 1981 and formerly lived in East Peacham, VT for several years and Portsmouth, NH for 30 years. Mrs. Adams had been employed as a bookkeeper for Caswell Brothers, Inc. in Portsmouth, NH for many years and had previously worked as a cashier for Pic-N-Pay Supermarket for several years. She enjoyed visiting her family, playing cards and was an avid bowler. In addition, she was a member of the First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC and AARP. Mrs. Adams was predeceased by her husband, Gordon E. Adams; a son, Roland G. Adams; two grandsons, James Burt and Richard Burt; and a great grandson, Jack C. Halley. Family members include six daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth & Ron Violette of Amherst, NH, Doris E. Burt of Farmington, NH, Sandra L. & Al Banish of Lackawanna, NY, Judith A. & Tom Morin of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Linda E. & David Chase of Chesapeake, VA, Nancy L. & Dana Heaney of Rye, NH; 18 Grandchildren; 35 Great Grandchildren; a sister, Susie W. Leach of Portsmouth, NH; many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are Monday, October 5th from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am in the First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC, 10 Union Street, Milford, NH. Burial will be in Peacham Cemetery, Peacham, VT. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Milford Ambulance Service, 1 Union Square, Milford, NH 03055.
