Susan [Carmichael] Coy, passed away at 76 on 11 Dec 2022 at the
Merrimack Hospice House after a short illness. She was born the oldest
child and only daughter of John and Trudy Carmichael on 16 Aug 1946 in
Concord NH.
Sue graduated from White Plains High School in New York and continued
her education at Framingham State College, graduating in 1969 with a
degree in Elementary Education. From a young age she had always wanted
to teach and did so locally in the school systems of Nashua, Amherst and
Merrimack and also Conventry, RI. As an expert reading specialist, Sue
helped many autistic children become literate and she also tutored
children through the N.H. Masons.
Sue attended First Baptist Church where she instituted, along with her
mother Trudy, a youth service program. Sue married Greg Coy on 25 Oct
1969 at the First Baptist Church. They had three sons, ‘The Coy Boys’.
Unfortunately, the two oldest sons, Kevin and Brian, passed away in 2015
and 2021.
She is survived by her husband, Greg, of Milford and their youngest son,
Michael, lives in the Phillipines. Also two brothers, Peter (Betsy) of
GA and Tom of Hudson; two sisters-in-law, Cherrie Fleming of Kansas
City, MO and Lorna Stinchfield (Duane) of Belchertown, MA; two nieces
and two nephews; and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
