Stephen F. Homoleski

Stephen Franklin Homoleski, 93, lifelong resident of Brookline, NH, died on November 24, 2014 at Genesis/Crestwood Care and Rehabilitation Center, Milford. Stephen was born in Brookline, NH on January 12, 1921, a son of Joseph and Ethel (Melendy) Homoleski. He grew up in Brookline and graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1940. Steve was the captain and star center fielder on the baseball team. He joined the Army Air Corp in May of 1942, achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and served as a flight chief for a night fighter squadron in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France until November 1945. Steve married Agnes Ouellette on June 30, 1946 and their son, Stephen W. was born in May 1948. Steve attended New England College in Henniker, NH from 1949 to 1951. He and his brother Hector built the house on Milford Street where Steve and Agnes lived for over 54 years. Steve had been very active in civic and community affairs. He was a member of the first study group to build the Brookline Elementary School, and a member and past treasurer of the P.T.O. In addition, he organized the Brookline Little League in the 1950s often driving around town to collect the required nine boys for a team. Prior to his retirement in January of 1977, he had worked as a machinist for the Ingersol Rand Corporation in Nashua, NH, for many years. He was a longtime member of the Brookline Church of Christ, Kilduff/Wirtanen American Legion Post #74, Harley Sanford Post #4368 VFW, Milford, Benevolent Lodge #7 F & AM, Milford, the World War II Night Fighters Association and Hampshire Hills Sports & Fitness Club. He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes (Ouellette) Homoleski, who died in 2011. Steve is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Stephen W. and Eileen Homoleski of South Berwick, ME; a sister, Laura Stimson of Keene, NH; and several nieces and nephews. There are no services. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Brookline, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Brookline Community Church, 2 Main Street, P.O. Box 507, Brookline, NH 03033.
