Sondra D. Beede, 70, resident of Amherst, NH, died April 12, 2009 at her home. Daughter of the late Rev. Irving H. Decker and late Louise (Wolf) Decker, she was born in Ilion, NY on October 4, 1938. Mrs. Beede had lived in the Amherst area since 1985 and formerly lived in Cambridge, NY, Ridgefield, CT and Fayetteville, NY. She earned her BA in Spanish from Hope College in Holland, Michigan and continued post-graduate studies at State University of New York in Albany. Mrs. Beede was a schoolteacher for many years, having taught at Cambridge Central School in Cambridge, NY and the Milford Middle School, Milford, NH until her retirement in 1995. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, boating, antiquing and loved history. For the last 14 years she and her husband have been the owners/operators of Tricorn Antiques and Estate Sales, Inc. Mrs. Beede was an active member of the Souhegan Christian Church, Amherst, NH. She was also very active in Questers, the Amherst Garden Club, AAUW, and the Amherst Antiques on the Green Committee. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Alan D. Beede of Amherst, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan & J. Scott Carpenter of Alexandria, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, John & Kathleen Beede of Dover, NH; four grandchildren, Alexander and Ethan Carpenter, Eli and Nathaniel Beede; a sister, Sharon Kammeraad of Naples, FL and a brother, Kurt Decker of Slidell, LA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church on 327 North River Road, Milford, NH 03055. A reception will immediately follow at the Souhegan Christian Church, 5 Route 101A Unit 2 Amherst, NH 03031. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Souhegan Christian Church, 5 Route 101A Unit 2 Amherst, NH 03031.
