Seth C. Potter

Seth Coolidge Potter, 65, of Amherst, NH passed away February 16, 2024, at home surrounded by family and friends. He was the husband of late Roberta (Long) Potter with whom he shared 38 years of marriage before her passing in 2018.

Seth was born April 26, 1958 in Nashua, NH to Robert Potter and Jane Seymour Potter. He grew up in Milford, NH, moving to Amherst in 1980 when he married his high school sweetheart, Roberta. He graduated from Milford Area Senior High School in 1976 and earned his associate degree in civil engineering from UNH in 1978. He held employment at Brox construction, Ferd construction, and Sanders Associates. In addition, for the last 20+ years, he worked for Stantec Consulting overseeing construction projects throughout the New England states. Seth would say the best time in his career was spent in Thetford, VT. He connected with the scenery and the community, making lifelong friends.

Seth faced many medical challenges throughout his life. Born with cystic fibrosis, he had a double lung transplant in 1996 and beat pancreatic cancer in 2015. He never let his medical problems define him. Seth took what he was dealt and did not let it tear him down. He instead, allowed it to make him a better person. A humble, funny, true New Englander, Seth focused on helping others and enjoying time in nature. He would say his fondest memories were visiting his nana, aunts and uncles in Gorham, NH; deer hunting at “the camp”; hiking in the NH white mountains; watching football, fishing, and harvesting the garden with his grandson, Hayden; and spending summer vacations on Crescent Surf in Maine with his daughters and grandchildren. If you drove by his home, you would see Seth stacking fire wood, tending to his vegetable garden, and waving to neighbors from his chair in the garage.

Seth was predeceased by wife, Roberta, mother, Jane Potter, brother, Nathaniel Potter, and father-in-law, William Long. He is survived by his daughter, Cassandra Husjak of Amherst, NH, his daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Sean Tully of Beverly, MA, his beloved grandchildren, Hayden, Annora, Lauren and Benjamin, his father and step-mother Robert Potter and Roberta Arbree of Durham, NH (formally of Randolph, NH), his mother-in-law and sister-in-law Sally and Susan Long of Amherst, NH, his sister Ann Potter of Olympia, WA, his brother James Potter of Hampton, NH, and his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Laurie Potter of Durham, NH. He was also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and loving neighbors that were the best of friends.

The family and friends of Seth Potter extend their deepest gratitude to Seth’s organ donor family. Seth had 27 extra years in this world to love, support, and positively impact his family, friends, and community. We are forever grateful.

A celebration of life will be held this spring. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to New England Donor Services.
