Samuel F. Milne

Samuel F. Milne, 68, of Milford, NH passed away suddenly on Saturday April 23 at his home. Sam was born October 2, 1947 in Nashua, NH. He was the son of the late Everett Milne and the late Dorothy (Severance) Milne and was a life-long Milford resident. Sam was as educated in Milford schools, and was a US Navy Veteran, having served during the late 1960’s. Sam loved to wander. Before he retired from his job working as a custodian with the Milford school system, he would spend nearly every weekend traveling up and down the coast of New England because he so loved the ocean. He especially loved to take whale watching excursions off of the coast of Maine. An avid and talented photographer, Sam documented his travels on film and had built an extensive portfolio of beautiful artwork over the course of his life. In addition to his art, Sam also loved music, and was a very talented drummer. It was his usual practice to arrive at family gatherings with a conga or djembe in tow in the event that anyone might like to join him in making music. Over the last few years when he traveled less, Sam was a fixture at the Red Arrow Diner in Milford. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time and having conversation with the other regulars at the coffee counter, and counted them among his dear friends. Sam is survived by his sister, Alice (Milne) True and her partner Tom Moquin of Mont Vernon; his sister Joan (Milne) Barrett of Milford, and by a large, extended family including 11 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will be hosting a celebration to honor Sam on Saturday, May 14 at 3:00 in the apple orchard at the home of his nephew, Barry True, at 246 Center Rd. in Lyndeborough. Refreshments will be provided and the family will have some of Sam’s artwork on display for guests to enjoy. All who knew Sam are welcomed.
