Ruth M. Murphy

Ruth Muriel Murphy (Beaudin), 96, a long-time resident of Milford, NH, passed away on October 22, 2018 in Venice, Florida where she lived for the past 28 years. She was the widow of Dr. Daniel J. Murphy. Ruth was born on April 26, 1922 in Haverhill, MA to Joseph Albert and Julia (Duchesne) Beaudin. She graduated from Milford High School in 1940. In 1946, she married Daniel J Murphy, and they moved to Milford in 1949 when he set up his dental practice. Ruth was a busy homemaker, and worked for many years as an assistant in her husband’s practice. She was a communicant of Saint Patrick’s Church, an active member of the Catholic Women’s Club, and a long-time member at Amherst Country Club, where she enjoyed golf and swimming. An avid reader throughout life, Ruth’s prize possessions in her later years were her two Kindles loaded with hundreds of books. Family will remember her as a caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always eager to take a carload of children off for a day’s adventure at the beach or lake. She kept an open and generous heart and always saw the good in people. Ruth is survived by her five sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Daniel and Barbara Murphy of Pittsburgh, PA, Michael and Marge Murphy of Venice, FL, Kevin and Sandy Murphy of Meredith, NH, Shawn and Sue Murphy of Venice, FL, and Dr. Chris Murphy and Marcia Ferguson of Baltimore, MD, one sister, Jane Noyes of Venice, FL and a son-in-law, Rick Leonard of Mont Vernon, NH. She leaves 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Ruth was predeceased by her daughter Kathy Leonard, a granddaughter Ajana Dunstan and two sisters, Claire Kamieniecki and Yvonne Radcliff. Calling hours are on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 5-7pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11:00am in Riverside Cemetery, 454 Nashua Street, Milford, NH.
