Ruth E. Covell

Ruth E. Covell, 90, longtime resident of Milford, NH, died on April 18, 2025, after a period of declining health.

She was born on December 16, 1934, in Jefferson, NH, a daughter of the late Raymond and Alice (Messer) Summers.

Ruth was raised and educated in E. Concord, VT. Following school, she met and married Joseph Covell and together moved to Milford, NH where they resided for over sixty years.

For many years, Ruth operated her own in-home childcare center where she was affectionally know by many as “Mim”. Ruth enjoyed traveling with her sister Franny and liked reading, taking photos and a good nap. She will be missed by many.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Covell in 2022.

Survivors include her three children, Valerie and her husband John Yule of Milford, NH, Charles Covell of Milford, NH and Pamela Alexander of Wiscasset, ME. Six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, her siblings, Frances, Raylene and Janet.

SERVICES: A calling hour will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A funeral service will follow the visiting hour at 11:00 AM in the funeral home Chapel. Burial will conclude in the Riverside Cemetery, Milford, NH.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the Home Health and Hospice, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH.
