Roger Labonte

Roger Labonte died peacefully on October 31, 2014, at his home in Amherst, NH, with his family by his side. Born in Nashua, NH, Roger was a self-made man who successfully ran his own business, G&L Welding, for over five decades. Roger moved to Amherst, NH, 40 years ago where he continued to build his life as a well-known member of the community. After work and most weekends, you could find Roger “dubbin around” outdoors where he always felt most at home. Whether he was restoring a John Deere tractor, haying fields, or tending to his animals, Roger was never too busy to kick back in his steel-toed boots and catch up on the latest news with a buddy. Friends were an important part of Roger’s life, especially those in the “ROMEO Club”, who joined him every morning at 5:00 to debate politics, talk NASCAR, and share inside jokes over coffee. With their unmatched camaraderie and contagious sense of humor, the members of the ROMEO Club supported Roger through all the ups and downs of life. Roger is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Labonte, who shared 20 years of love and laughter with him. Together, they built a life of truth and simplicity with an unparalleled bond of deep devotion and mutual respect. Always her “warrior”, Roger expressed his love for BJ with his gentle strength. A beloved father to his daughters, Jodi and Kim Labonte, and his step-children, Max and Alanna Jaworski, Roger passed on the importance of hard work, perseverance, and quiet determination. As they carry on his legacy, Jodi and Kim will pass on these traits to Roger’s grandchildren, Carter, Sawyer, and Scarlett, so they will always remember and celebrate the life of their Pop-Pop. It is their wish to make their father as proud of them as they were of him. Roger leaves behind many friends and family members. Memorial visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 2nd from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford.
