Roger F. Comire, 73, resident of Peterborough, NH, died August 17, 2011 at Concord Hospital, Concord, NH. He was born in Fitchburg, MA on January 7, 1938, a son of Donald E. Comire, Sr. and Nathalie (Gregory) Comire. Roger resided in Peterborough and Washington, NH for several years and made his home in Milford for most of his life. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he had been employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. He had a great passion for antique automobiles. His many memberships included Granite State Antiques Auto Club, Model A Ford Club of America, Lincoln Zephyr Owner’s Club, Lincoln Continental Owner’s Club and was a founding member of N.E. Region-LCOC. Roger enjoyed playing cribbage, horse shoes and was a PBR enthusiast. In addition, he was a longtime fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. Roger was a U.S. Army Veteran having participated in the Bay of Pigs invasion. He was a member of Ricciardi Hartshorn Post #23 American Legion, Milford. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret T. “Peggy” (Tarara) Comire, who died in 2004 Family members include three sons and daughters-in-law, John M. & Denise Comire of Bow, NH, Roger A. & Jeanette Comire of Milford, NH, Edward D. & Beth Comire of Merrimack, NH; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marie J. Comire of Milford, NH, Rebecca Comire Wilcox & Douglas Wilcox of Duck, NC; 11 Grandchildren, Michael, Joanna, Rebecca, Anthony, Alison, Alex, Douglas, Shane, Benjamin, Tara and Josette; two brothers, Donald E. Comire, Jr. of Milford and Robert C. Comire of Nashua, NH; many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are Monday, August 22nd from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am in the Milford United Methodist Church, 327 North River Road, Milford. Burial with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Office of Development, Hinman 7070, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756-0001 or St. Joseph Home & Hospice Care, 24 North River Road, Milford, NH 03055.
