Roger Bergeron, 86, a longtime resident of Mont Vernon, died peacefully after a brief illness. He is predeceased by his wife of sixty-two years, Thomasina (Donlan) Bergeron, his parents George and Lillian (Tellier) Bergeron of Lowell, Mass; his sisters-in-law, Maura Dadoly and Diana Donlan; his brothers-in-law, Joseph Patrick Donlan and James Michael Donlan; and his niece, Christina Donlan.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Michael Bergeron and his wife Elaine Kalhori of Wilton, Kathleen Fitzgerald and her husband Charles of Mont Vernon, and Gregory Bergeron and his wife Heather of Merrimack, his grandchildren: Amy and Samantha Bergeron, Patrick and Abigail Fitzgerald, Ashley and Madison Bergeron; and his step grandchildren: Nasreen, Nadia, Kevin, and Daria Kalhori. He is also survived by his brother-in-law (and childhood friend) Leo Dadoly and his wife Gayle, and his sister-in-law Linda Donlan. He also leaves many adoring nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
Roger attended Lowell High School in Lowell, Mass. He met the love of his life, Tomi Donlan, when she stepped off the bus at Hampton Beach, a story we heard many times. Together they raised a family in Dracut, Mass; and finally settled in the beautiful town of Mont Vernon, NH where they resided for 42 years.
Roger worked in the automotive field at many dealerships, including Iverson Ford, Lowell Motor Sales, Lallas Buick, English Chevrolet, and Waldimer Pontiac. He then worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad as a machinist. From there, he followed his dream to open his own auto restoration shop, County Auto Restoration, in the little garage next to his house. His son, Greg, worked by his side for twenty-five years—their restored antiques winning awards at car shows across New England.
Roger’s shop became a hub for friends and neighbors, which often led to a coffee break with Tomi’s home cooking and freshly brewed coffee.
Roger was happiest with Tomi by his side, tootling down the road in either their 1911 Huppmobile or the 1923 Studebaker. And now, reunited, they’re enjoying an endless summer drive together.
Throughout his life, Roger embodied compassion and friendship with neighbors and family alike; so in lieu of flowers, we encourage you to:
