Robert W. Cayer

Robert William Cayer, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2013 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA after a brief illness. He was born in Woonsocket, RI on December 6, 1930 to his loving parents, Louis Cayer and Cora (Mcnamee) Cayer. He was educated at Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket, RI. After graduation from Mount Saint Charles Academy, he furthered his formal education by attending four years at Providence College, earning a BA in Biology. Upon graduation from Providence College, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Seattle, WA, where he received his honorable discharge after four years of duty to his country. His professional career began with Raymond & Whitcombe Travel Agency, then continued on in executive sales positions with American Airlines, National Airlines, British West Indian Airlines and Trans World Airlines. He resigned his position with Trans World Airlines, in April of 1971, where he, along with his lifelong partner, Fred Mosley, opened Milford Travel Service, Inc., which is in its 43rd year of consecutive service. Robert was an avid worldwide traveler who used his extensive background in travel, assisting countless individuals and corporations with personalized professional service that kept his loyal clients returning to him over and over until his recent passing. Most of his clients became personal friends, not just a number. In addition to his extensive worldwide travels, he enjoyed his two Lhasa Apso, live theatre, water color painting and photography, for which he was given the Keyes Art Group Judge’s award for an exceptional photograph. He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Cayer of Burriville, RI and Roy Cayer of Worcester, MA. He is survived by his lifetime partner of over 50 years, Fred Mosley; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Roland and Claire Cayer, Louis Cayer, Jr., all of Port Charlotte, FL. He was also a loving uncle to four nephews and two nieces, along with giving great attention to numerous great nieces and nephews. At his request, there are no services at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, 545 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110.
