Robert (Robin) A.W Guthrie MD, died December 26, 2021 at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack NH. He was born on March 5, 1935 in Middlesborough, England, a son of Robert Guthrie, Sr. and Ethel M. Watts Guthrie. Educated at Manchester University, Manchester, England and was a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. For more than 35 years Dr. Guthrie was employed in private practice in Nashua, NH. He was a member and 32nd degree Mason of the Ancient York Lodge #89, Nashua, NH, member of the Scottish Rite and received the 40 years of service award in 2016. He was a member of Bektash Temple (Shriners) Concord, NH, Bektash Highlanders, Past Potentate 1993, 45 year member, charter member of Nashua Rotary West, Board of Governors for Boston Shriners Burn Center for Children and was Chief of Staff at Nashua Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed traveling with his wife especially to the Caribbean, scuba diving, underwater photography and spending summers at his childhood home, Rosebank. In his younger years he coached his son’s soccer teams and enjoyed building stonewalls at his home in Hollis, NH, and enjoyed teaching it to anyone that was willing to help, including Andrew and Tim Crawley. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Mai (Secker) Guthrie who died November 8, 2021, his granddaughter, Brittney Anne Garceau and great grandson, Hunter Daniel Ardito. Family members include his children, Robert and Mandy of England, Victoria and David of Effingham, NH, Alistair and Tammy of Brookline, NH and Iain and Kimberly of Greenfield, NH; Grandchildren, Thomas Garceau of Wilton, NH, Oliver, Josie and James Guthrie of England, Travis and Ashley Guthrie of Brookline, Brooke and Laurel Guthrie of Milford, and Cayley Ardito of New Ipswich; one great grandson, Hudson Daniel Ardito. There are no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Effingham Masonic Temple, Charter Oak Lodge #58, 30 Town House Road, Effingham, NH 03882 for the preservation and restoration of the temple trompe l’oile ceiling and wall murals.
