Robert L. Swallow, 86, of Amherst, NH, passed away suddenly early the morning of Thursday, November 3rd, 2016. Robert was born March 10, 1930 in Concord, MA, the son of his beloved father George Chester Swallow and mother Hazel Steed Swallow. Robert graduated from Boston Latin School and Harvard University with a degree in Chemistry (1953). Robert served in the Army from January 1954 to January 1957. He had a long career with UniRoyal where he last led their worldwide AgriChemical business. Upon retirement, he devoted himself to his family and loved ones, who include his wife of 62 years, Clara Zukowski Swallow; his three sons Stephen R. of Walnut Creek, CA, David J. (Michelle) of Nashua, NH, and Robert L. Jr. (Donna) of Goffstown, NH; his five grandchildren David, Katherine, Sarah, Robert, and Johnathan; great-grandchild Angelo; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Bob loved traveling with family, especially to Nova Scotia and the Cotswolds of England; talking history and sports–especially the Red Sox; solving crossword puzzles; and playing bridge weekly with the Souhegan Seniors Bridge Club. Bob’s enduring legacy may well be his huge heart-he helped many others in times of need, often behind the scene. In short, he was a beloved role model, a devoted and loving parent, and a human of exquisite principles. He will be greatly missed and loved forever. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, November 9th from 6-8pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A mass of Christian burial will celebrated on Thursday, November 10th at 10am in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH. Questions can be directed to Michelle Swallow at 603-566-1244.
