Robert H. Luneberg, 77, resident of Mont Vernon, NH, died June 9, 2011 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Nashua, NH. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on August 31, 1933, a son of Herman and Frances (Miltenberger) Luneberg. He graduated from Concordia Prep School, Class of 1951, Bronxville, NY and Duke University, Class of 1955, Durham, NC. Mr. Luneberg resided in Mont Vernon since 2007 and formerly lived in Lincoln, RI for many years. All of his working life was spent in the financial services industry. In his younger years, he was a lifeguard at Jones Beach, Long Island, NY. Mr. Luneberg was an avid Boston sports fan and Duke Basketball fan. He enjoyed model trains and spending summers in Bridgton, Maine. He especially loved family gatherings in Maine and New Hampshire. He was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church, Bedford, NH. Mr. Luneberg was a pilot in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1959. Family members include his wife of 33 years, Judith L. (Hopper) Luneberg of Mont Vernon, NH; a son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Alyce Luneberg of Brookhaven, NY; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and John Pomeroy of Smithtown, NY, Kristen and Matt MacLeod of NY, NY, Kerin and Gerry Hamel of Herndon, VA; four grandchildren, Amanda Luneberg, Jenna Luneberg, Zachary Luneberg and Michael Pomeroy; a brother, Richard Luneberg of Westlake Village, CA; several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours are Sunday, June 12th from 5:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in the Bedford Presbyterian Church, 4 Church Road, Bedford, NH. Burial with military honors will follow in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, 1389 Bridgton Road, Fryeburg, ME 04038.
