Robert H. Jacobson, 94, resident of Amherst, NH died on May 13, 2013 at the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth, NH, after a short period of failing health. He was born in Amherst, NH on June 10, 1918, the son of Benjamin F. and Lillian (Bryant) Jacobson and was raised and educated in Amherst. Mr. Jacobson retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service and later returned to Amherst where he worked as an electrician for J.J. Reilly Company in Manchester, NH. He enjoyed photography, was a voracious reader of history and especially loved his Dalmatians. Family members include three daughters, Laurie Stevens of Exeter, NH, PaulaJean Jacobson of Portsmouth, NH and Gail Guarini of Medford, MA; two sons, Barry J. Jacobson of FL and Robert J. Jacobson of OR; Grandchildren Peter Guarini, Winthrop MA, Richard Guarini, NY, James Jacobson MT, Sarah Jacobson and Samuel Jacobson, OR, Timothy Jacobson ID, Julie Suckow, MN, James Jacobson, MN, Joseph Jacobson, MN and Scott Stevens, Exeter NH; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Youngquist of Buckhannon, WV. He was especially close to Peter, Julie and Scott. Mr. Jacobson was predeceased by his former wife, Louise A. Jacobson and a grandson, Aaron M. Jacobson. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 10:00 am in Meadowview Cemetery, Foundry Street, beginning with a procession from his home on Christian Hill Rd. Amherst, NH.
