Robert G. Goehring

Robert G. Goehring, 81, resident of Milford, NH died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. He was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on August 21, 1931, a son of Karl H. and Ruby S. (Chapman) Goehring. Bob served in the Coast Guard from 1951 to 1954 where he went through electronics school and served on the USCGC Yakutat, a Casco Class U.S. Coast Guard Cutter. He was married to Ruth on August 28, 1954, six days after leaving his active service. He graduated from Holyoke Junior College in 1956 and went on to work for a number of companies including Honeywell where he wrote technical manuals. But he was driven by his father, Karl’s entrepreneurial spirit, and started his own, successful business, Decorator’s Service Company of New Hampshire, in 1976, after moving to Nashua. He and Ruth moved to Milford in 1988. Bob was a proud member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod). He was extraordinarily proud of his children and shared in the good times and in the sad times of their marriages and their families and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His 58 year marriage to Ruth was the rock of his life. He was proud of his successful business, where his customers loved him because he treated them as honored friends. He kept his cars spotless, his lawn mowed in straight lines, and his white wall tires pristine. In 2004 Bob and Ruth enjoyed a 50th Anniversary trip to Alaska where he got to see the original Yakutat Peninsula. Dear husband to his wife of 58 years, Ruth M Goehring; loving father of Linda Adey and her husband, Kenneth Adey of Nashua, NH, and Kathleen Raymer and her husband, Paul Raymer, Falmouth, MA. He was the devoted brother of Frederick D. Goehring and the late Richard C. Goehring, Karl E. Goehring, and Glenn A. Goehring. He was the exceptional grandfather of Heather L., Matthew K., Christopher R. Adey, Adam D., Elizabeth F., and Abigail R. Raymer and great-grandfather of Blake S. Adey, Samantha A. and Alexander P. Raymer. Visiting hours are on Thursday evening, November 1st from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2nd at 10:30 am in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 673 Weston Road, Manchester, NH. Burial with military honors will follow in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 D.W. Highway, Boscawen, NH.
