Robert G. Brown

Robert Graham Brown, 76, of Amherst, New Hampshire, died suddenly at home on March 10, 2017, after a short illness. Bob is survived by three sisters, Linda Brown Forcellina of Connecticut, Elizabeth and Candace Brown of Florida; niece Alyse Forcellina of New York, nephew Christopher Forcellina of Chicago, and great niece, Annabella Ciraco, of New York. Born in Norwalk, Connecticut on May 4, 1940, Bob attended elementary and junior high school there and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1958. After that, he attended the University of Connecticut. He was predeceased in death by his wife of 32 years, Mary Rebecca Brown, in 2006. Bob was retired from Robert N. Karpp Company in Boston where he was a sales representative for structural steel for over 20 years. A religious and honorable man, Bob was known as a person one could always depend on. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Milford, New Hampshire, where he had his “special” seat in the last pew at 7:00 mass every Sunday. A longtime lover of Brittany Spaniels, Bob had them trained for hunting and fishing trips for many years. He and his lifetime friends, Richard Dojny and Frank Correnty, made an annual trip to Tall Timbers Lodge in Pittsburg, New Hampshire, a week he looked forward to all year. An artist too, as a child Bob drew meticulous battlefield scenes and later made incredible models based on military and nautical themes. He also was skillful at framing pictures and, as a lifetime NY Yankee fan, collected Yankee memorabilia. A history major in college, Bob had a lifetime interest in military history and visited may Revolutionary sites in New England. In fact, he grew up in a Revolutionary era home across from the Green where Revolutionary soldiers had trained. He also traveled to Canada, Newfoundland, the British Isles, especially enjoying the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo in Scotland, his dream experience. As a beer lover, he and his wife attended Octoberfest Germany. His last overseas vacation took him to Italy to spend time with his older sister, her family, and his sister Betsy in their rented villa in Italy. Christmases were very special to Bob and he regularly spent the Holiday in Norwalk with his sisters and their family members, always remembering to visit the special places that he remembered from his childhood in Norwalk. Bob loved good food, a vodka and tonic, and an occasional drink of Bourbon. He knew how to enjoy life and was always a wonderful support for his wife and family in times of trouble. He will be missed by his loving family, friends, and the other volunteers at Meals on Wheels where he worked for at least the last four years. A memorial service will be held on May 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, followed by a service and interment in the family cemetery in Westport, Connecticut.
