Robert F. Jackson, 74, longtime resident of Amherst, NH, died August 29, 2010 at his home. He was born in Norwich, CT on September 14, 1935, a son of the late Glenn D. Jackson, Jr. and Elizabeth (Darling) Jackson. Mr. Jackson was graduated from the Hill School and the University of Pennsylvania, Class of 1959, where he received a Bachelor of Architecture. After spending three years with the United States Coast Guard, Bob went to work with the architectural firm of Edward Durell Stone in New York City. In 1970, he returned to Amherst and established R.F. Jackson Associates, Architects and Planners. His career spanned more than four decades and included designs for numerous residential and commercial properties in the Southern New Hampshire Area. Bob made his home in Amherst for more than 50 years and was actively involved in the community. He had served as a former selectman, a member of the town planning board and was instrumental in establishing zoning regulations for the town. Mr. Jackson was a member and past president of the Milford Rotary and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award. An avid boater, he loved anything and everything to do with the water and especially enjoyed spending time at his home in Cundy’s Harbor, Maine. Family members include many cousins, a nephew and numerous friends. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, September 2nd at 11:00 am in Meadowview Cemetery, Foundry Street, Amherst, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Milford Rotary Community Fund, P.O. Box 618, Milford, NH 03055.
