Robert Francis Gould, 100, longtime resident of Hollis, NH, died on December 9, 2014 at Laurel Place, Hudson, NH. He was born in Hollis, NH, on November 17, 1914, a son of Warren Francis and Vira Lillian (Gates) Gould. He was employed as a welder at Sun Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company in Chester, PA and later at Budd Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia, PA. Prior to his retirement in 1979, he had worked at Ingersoll-Rand Company in Nashua, NH for 30 years. Mr. Gould is believed to have one of the largest collections of post cards of railroad stations in the United States and a large collection of court house post cards. In honor of his 100th birthday, Mr. Gould received the one and only designation of “Honorary Railroad Mediator.” He was a member of the B & M Historical Society and Granite State Post Card Collectors Club. Mr. Gould was the oldest and longest member of the Congregational Church of Hollis. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen M. (Bird) Gould who died in 1993. Family members include a niece, Alice R. Morin of Lowell, MA; a nephew, William Cahill of GA; two grandnieces, Carol McMahon and her husband, Bryan of Lowell, MA, and Elizabeth L. Morin of Lowell, MA; several great grandnieces; great grandnephews; and several cousins. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Laurel Place for their loving care and support. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 13th from 9:30-11:00 am in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be in North Cemetery, Hollis, NH, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Congregational Church of Hollis, 3 Monument Square, Hollis, NH 03049.
