Robert A. Edwards

Robert A. Edwards, 81, resident of Milford, NH, died February 17, 2011 at Crestwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Milford. He was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on August 26, 1929, a son of James A. and Anna (Callanan) Edwards. Raised and educated New Jersey, he graduated from SUNY, College of Staten Island, with an Associate’s Degree in Engineering. Prior to moving to Milford six years ago, he had lived all of his life in Bayonne, NJ. Mr. Edwards had a long and successful career with Con Edison for whom he worked for 50 years. He loved Big Band music and was a member of the Vaughn Monroe Society. His many memberships in New Jersey included Bayonne Elks Lodge #434, Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council #371, VFW, American Legion and the Korean War Veterans Association. In addition, he was a member of El Jarrow Caravan #154 of the International Order of the Alhambra, and held national office. Mr. Edwards was a U.S. Army veteran having served as a radioman with the 227th and 229th AAA groups during the Korean War. He was a loving father, a devoted grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Edwards was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine (Trimirka) Edwards, who died in 1999. Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Michael Allen of Derry, NH; a grandson, Justin Allen; a great grandson, Andrew Allen; a sister, Regina Dolan of Bayonne, NJ; a brother, James A. Edwards of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ; several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, MARCH 12, 2011 at 10:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Alhambra Charity Fund, 4200 Leeds Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21229.
