Ret. Lt. Richard M. Phillips, 63, resident of Milford, NH, died May 11, 2010 at the CRVNA Hospice House, Concord, NH. He was born in Medford, MA on March 3, 1947, a son of the late Gerald and Marguerite (Sahlin) Phillips. He was raised and educated in Melrose, MA and made his home in Wilmington, MA for many years before moving to Milford, NH in 2004. For 28 years, Mr. Phillips was employed as a Police Officer for the City of Malden and retired as a Lieutenant in 2004. He enjoyed golfing, motorcycles and especially his dog, Niles. Mr. Phillips was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1972. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather. Family members include his wife of 42 years, Helen G. (Powers) Phillips of Milford, NH; a daughter, Kristie Lynne Phillips Cutler of Fuquay Varina, NC; a son, James R. Phillips of Tewksbury, MA; two grandchildren, Cassidy and Jake Phillips. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 15th at 2:00 pm in the First Congregational Church of Milford, 10 Union Street, Milford, NH. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to CRVNA Hospice House, 250 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301 or New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02148.
