Richard H. Riendeau

Richard H. Riendeau, 75, of Milord, NH passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 18, 2012. He was born on April 14, 1937 in Gorham, NH; the son of Henry “Babe” Riendeau and Sophie (Malasky) Riendeau. He was raised in Gorham on Cascade Hill, attending local schools. He served honorably as a member of the United States Army. He has employed as a machinist with Hy-Ten Plastics since 1963. In lieu of retirement, Dick stayed on with the company, working winter months and taking summers off in order to pursue his interests. Dick was supremely devoted to family and friends. He was willing, at any time, under any circumstances to lend a helping hand to whomever was in need. He was best known for his incredible sense of humor. Few loved a good laugh (or could deliver one) like Dick. His innate ability to lighten any load and brighten every tough situation will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed camping, travelling, and zipping around on his Segway. He was an avid bluegrass music enthusiast and often travelled to many festivals throughout New England. He took great pride in his membership in the infamous “ROMEO” (Retired Old Men Eating Out) club, and cherished the laughs and jokes that he shared with his fellow members. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Judith (Delorge) Riendeau and two sons, Richard “Rick” Riendeau, and an infant son, Robert. He is survived by his son, Ray Riendeau and his wife, Harriet of Milford; a daughter, Ruth-Ann Brown and her longtime companion, Tom Lamontagne and his children, Bryan and Kristine of Glen, NH; daughter-in-law, Vicki Riendeau and his two grandsons, Cliff and Robby of Windham, NH; his mother, Sophie Riendeau of Gorham; a brother, Ronald Riendeau and his wife, Snookie, of Gorham; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private. There will be calling hours on Friday, October 26, from 5 to 8 pm at Smith and Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. At Dick’s request, we are “Having a damn party” at the VFW, 14 Perkins St, Milford, NH on Saturday, October 27, from 11 am to 3 pm. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
