Rev. Thomas E. Teichmann

Rev. Thomas Eric Teichmann, 57, passed away in his home in Amherst, NH on Monday, October 10, 2016. He was born in Rochester, New York on September 27, 1959, one of four sons of Rev. Frederic J. Teichmann and Claire K. Teichmann. Tom graduated from Ramapo College of New Jersey and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg in 1998. After graduating from seminary, Rev. Teichmann’s first call was to serve as pastor to Trinity Lutheran Church in South Paris, ME. Pastor Tom was called to Messiah Lutheran Church in Amherst, NH in September 2006. Pastor Tom faithfully served the Amherst community these past 10 years. Though Pastor Tom lived with Parkinson’s Disease, his illness did not keep him from pursuing his passions and being with the people for whom he deeply cared. Before serving as a pastor, Tom was dedicated serving the Lord in the setting of outdoor ministries. He spent formative years at Pinecrest Lutheran Leadership School of New York. Tom served as a leader at Camp Trexler Lutheran Camp for Boys in Harriman, NY, interim director at New Ebenezer Retreat Center in Rincon, GA and camp director at Agape Lutheran Camp in Fuquay-Varina, NC, and served as a board member and chaplain at Calumet Lutheran Ministries in Freedom, NH. This love for ministry, nature, and Christian education was closely shared with his family, with several generations of his family engaging in serving the Lord and the church. Along with his passion for ministry, Tom had a deep love for music and guitars, an appreciation for great comedies, and always had room for a good slice of pizza and chocolate. Family members include his loving wife of 34 years, Lisa Schou Teichmann, his son Erik and Rev. Sarah Teichmann of Lancaster, his granddaughter Elsa, three brothers and sisters-in-law Peter W. and Diane Teichmann of Long Island, NY; Timothy J. and Christine Teichmann of Bedminster, NJ; Jeffrey J. and Lois Teichmann of East Windsor, NJ and several nephews and nieces. The funeral service will be Saturday October 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 303 Route 101, Amherst, NH. Pastor Bill Petersen, of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Wolfeboro, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, Amherst, NH.
