Rev. Frederic J. Teichmann, 86, resident of Bedford, NH, died on December 10, 2013, at Carlyle Place in Bedford, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New York City on October 20, 1927, a son of Frederick W. and Ruth (Karweick) Teichmann. He graduated from Trinity College, Hartford, CT, and Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. Rev. Teichmann’s first call was to a congregation in Jamaica, Queens, NY. He was then called to start a Lutheran church in Littleton, NH, and one in Greece, NY. He was then called to be the pastor at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, New Hyde Park, NY where he served faithfully for 30 years. During this time he also served the wider church as Dean of his district and President of the Nassua County Council of Churches. Rev. Teichmann also served Pinecrest Lutheran Ministries for more than 25 years as Assistant Director and Director. Following his retirement in 1992, he made his home in Center Tuftonboro, NH, and worked with Camp Calumet, the New England synod’s outdoor ministry, as well as serving as interim pastor in South Paris, ME, Berlin and Rochester, NH, and substitute pastor for numerous churches throughout the synod. He also served for many years as a regional representative for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Outdoor Ministry board-traveling to Lutheran camps throughout the country. He and his wife moved to Bedford in 2012. Family members include his loving wife of 63 years, Claire W. (Karkutt) Teichmann of Bedford; four sons and daughters-in-law, Peter W. and Diane Teichmann of Long Island, NY; Timothy J. and Christine Teichmann of Bedminster, NJ; Rev. Thomas E. and Lisa Teichmann of Amherst, NH; Jeffrey J. and Lois Teichmann of East Windsor, NJ; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Jonathan and Caroline; Erik and Sarah; Matthew; Marc and Kerry; Brianne; Amy; Daniel; and Jeremy; a sister, Ruth Annunziato of Amityville, NY; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Thelma Teichmann of Ocala, FL; two nieces, five nephews, and one great-grandchild. A visiting hour will be held on Saturday, December 14 from 10:00 am ��" 11:00 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 303 Route 101, Amherst, NH. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Rev. Dave Dalzell, of Good Shepherd, Laconia-their home church-will officiate. Burial will be in Town Hall Cemetery, Center Tuftonboro, NH, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Camp Calumet, P.O. Box 236, W. Ossipee, NH 03890; Pinecrest Lutheran Ministries; Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, New Hyde Park, NY, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Laconia, NH, and Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.
