Raymond P. Buma, 90, longtime resident of Amherst, NH, died peacefully at his home on October 24, 2021. He was born in Whitinsville, MA on July 29, 1931, a son of Peter and Mary (Magill) Buma. Following his education at Northeastern University, Ray worked as an industrial engineer at MKM Knitting Mills, Sprague Electric, and General Services Inc. Ray went on to become a nationally respected entrepreneur in the tire industry. In addition to several New England locations, locally Ray established Carson City Tire and partnered at Steve King Tire. One of Rays personal passions was mentoring and assisting numerous aspiring businesspeople who went on to create their own successful businesses. Ray was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, enjoyed reading and traveled widely with his loving wife Millie. Ray was predeceased by a son, Raymond P. Buma, Jr. Family members include his wife of 45 years, Mildred (Letasz) Buma of Amherst, NH; brother Paul Buma and his wife Marian of Whitinsville, MA; sons, Kurt Buma of Pepperell, MA and John Lebica of Greenfield, NH; daughters, Katherine Heartly of NH and Susan Jones of SC; grandchildren, Emma (husband Keenan) Thomson, Graham Lebica, Chris and Courtney Buma, Jeremy Demers, Angela (husband Steven) Messenger; great grandchildren, Owen and Ben Thomson, Julian and Aspen Messenger; several nieces and nephews, and his loyal dog Buddy. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Patrick Leong and Dr. Louis Fink for their dedication and kindness throughout the years. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
