Raymond N. Capes, Jr., 86, resident of Francestown, NH, died on December 3, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Arlington, MA on December 24, 1935, the son of Raymond N. Capes, Sr. and Lillian M. (Andrews) Capes. He was raised and educated in Winthrop and Everett, MA. Ray graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1953 and later earned a degree from Lowell Technological Institute.
He was employed as an engineer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory for more than 30 years.
Ray was a communicant of Divine Mercy Parish, Peterborough, NH. He enjoyed raising flat-coated retrievers and was also a ham radio operator.
He was a U.S. Army veteran having served from 1953 through 1958.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jacquelyn A. (Morgan) Capes of Francestown; four daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly & Marcus Doran of Wynnewood, PA, Kirsten Capes of Pepperell, MA, Karyn & Rick Bennett of Balston Lake, NY, and Katrina & Bill Sylvester of Pepperell, MA; and his son and daughter-in-law, Raymond C. Capes and Monica Hinojos-Capes of Groton, MA; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann & the late George Bruno of FL, Frances Messina of Andover, MA, Mary & Robert Wallask of Billerica, MA, and Trish and John Gallagher of Lacey, WA; and many nieces and nephews. Raymond was predeceased by his sister, Lillian Parker.
A Calling hour will be held on Friday, December 9th, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Divine Mercy Church, 12 Church St. Peterborough, NH followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pepperell, MA on Saturday. December 10th, 2022 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Divine Mercy Parish, Peterborough, NH.
