Raoul “Ray” L. St. Cyr, 86, died at his home on June 5, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was born in Littleton, NH on December 1, 1923, a son of the late Napoleon and Marie-Anne St. Cyr. He made his home in Milford for the past 54 years. A member of the Greatest Generation, from 1943-1946, he served with the U.S. Navy 138th Naval Construction Battalion “Seabees”, stationed in the Aleutian Islands of Attu, Adak and Kiska, building and maintaining military housing, roads, bridges and airstrips. Six of his brothers also served in the U.S. Military. Following his military service, his working career was in the paper mill industry starting in Vermont and retiring in 1986 as a production supervisor, after 32 years of service with the Bemis Bag Company, Pepperell, MA. In retirement, Ray enjoyed long-time membership in Red Sox Nation. He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #3035, a former member of Ricciardi Hartshorn Post #23 American Legion and Harley Sanford Post #4368 VFW. Ray was predeceased by two brothers, Phillip and Leo St. Cyr. Family members include his wife of 58 years, Leona (Tetreault) St. Cyr of Milford; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Rebecca St. Cyr of Groveton, NH; daughter, Louise St. Cyr of Salem, MA; daughter, Monica Kluz of Milford; five grandsons, Ryan, Nicholas and Jeffrey St. Cyr, all of Groveton, Anthony and Brandon Kluz of Milford. He also leaves three great-grandchildren, Lauryn and Matthew St. Cyr of Groveton and Averi White Kluz of Milford. He is survived by brothers, Leon of Peterborough, NH, Emile of Tucson, AZ, Joseph of Keystone Heights, FL, Walter of Lake Worth, FL and Francis of Derby, VT and Lake Worth, FL; sisters, Jeanne Soltis of Rocky Mount, NC, Irene Goodson of Alamogordo, NM, Beatrice Maurais of Largo, FL, Sr. Monique St. Cyr of Nashua and Simone Lagace of Nelson, NH; many nieces and nephews. Memorial visiting hours are Tuesday, June 8th from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH. Burial with military honors will be in Riverside Cemetery, Milford.
