Rachel J. Girouard

Rachel J. Girouard, 32, lifelong resident of Brookline, died on July 16, 2014 at the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Concord, NH on April 8, 1982, a daughter of Paul H. and Melanie (Powers) Girouard of Brookline. Rachel was a graduate of Hollis Brookline High School, Class of 2001. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology Assistant from NH Community College, Nashua. She had worked at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center, Greenfield, NH and also in the bone marrow transplant unit at Boston Children’s Hospital. Rachel was a wonderful cook, enjoyed gardening and all genres of music especially guitarists such as Joe Bonamassa and Jimi Hendrix. She was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Rachel loved to travel and moved to Europe shortly after graduating from high school and made her home in Barcelona, Spain. Traveling through Europe she also visited France and Switzerland. In addition to her parents, family members include her sister and brother-in-law, Marcella and Justin Shea of Merrimack, NH; her paternal grandmother, Jeanne Girouard of Whitefield, NH; aunts and uncles, Roger and Claire Girouard of Jefferson, NH, Robert Girouard of Antrim, NH, Theresa Girouard of Jefferson, NH and Norman Girouard of Jaffrey, NH; a nephew, James Shea; and five cousins, Matthew Girouard, Adam Girouard, Christopher Girouard, Ruthie Babcock and Jacquelyne Girouard. Memorial visiting hours are on Saturday, July 19th from 12:00-2:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A celebration of her life will follow at 3:00 pm in the Brookline Event Center, 32 Proctor Hill Road, Brookline, NH.
