Phyllis E. Lewis, 75, resident of Amherst, NH, passed away peacefully October 13, 2009 at Crestwood Care & Rehabilitation Center, Milford after years of battling Multiple Sclerosis. She was born in Warwick, RI on May 15, 1934, the daughter of the late Albert and Edith (Johnson) Benson. Mrs. Lewis was raised and educated in Warwick, Rhode Island where she had been a hairdresser prior to her marriage. She and her husband made their home in Amherst for the past 37 years. Phyllis was a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a very active supporter in her children�s activities with horses and Pop Warner football. She was known for spending countless hours reading and sharing wonderful family stories with her grandchildren, She lived for those she loved and will be dearly missed by those whose life she touched. Mrs. Lewis was predeceased by a daughter, Wendy E. Lewis-King. Family members include her husband of 50 years, Arthur K. Lewis of Amherst, NH; a daughter, Lori A. Lewis-Smith and her husband Rick of Nashua, NH; a son, Scott A. Lewis and his wife Kelly of Thornton, CO; four grandchildren, Heather and Haley Smith of Nashua, NH Sydnei and Keegan Lewis of Thornton CO; a son-in-law Charles King of Hudson, NH; and a special cousin/sister-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Lewis and brother-in-law Robert Lewis of Newburyport, MA. The family wishes to express their gratitude towards the staff of Harborside Crestwood Nursing Home for the compassion and love that was so evident concerning Phyllis� care. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Friday November 27th at 11:00 am in Saint Paul�s Lutheran Church, Warwick, RI. Burial will be in St. Paul�s Lutheran Cemetery, Warwick, RI.
