Peter L. Savage

Peter L. Savage, 60, resident of Mont Vernon, NH, died August 12, 2012 in an automobile accident in Mont Vernon, NH. He was born in Boston, MA on August 12, 1952, a son of Virginia M. (Hamilton) Savage of Quincy, MA and the late Peter E. Savage. He graduated from Milton High School, Milton, MA. Mr. Savage made his home in Mont Vernon for the past 27 years and formerly lived in Merrimack, NH for several years. He had been employed as a software engineer for Digital Equipment Corporation for 17 years and Teradyne Company, N. Reading, MA for 10 years. He was a pioneer in the field of software engineering and was granted several patents over the course of his 40-year career. Mr. Savage served two terms as Selectmen for the Town of Mont Vernon from 2000 until 2006. He represented the town on various boards and was instrumental in building the new highway garage and organizing the Mont Vernon Bicentennial. He was a sailor for many years and was also an avid antique car collector. He was the founder and curator of Savage Muscle Car Museum in Mont Vernon. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles H. Savage, who died in 1978. In addition to his mother, family members include his wife of 31 years, Marilyn F. (Gross) Savage of Mont Vernon, NH; a son, Sean Michael of San Antonio, TX; a daughter, Jennifer M. Savage of Austin, TX; a granddaughter, Ada Crowley; three sisters, Maureen Savage of Quincy, MA, Jeanne Barton of Chelmsford, MA and Linda Green and her husband Jeff of Clifton, ME; many nieces and nephews. Memorial visiting hours are Friday evening, August 17th from 6:00-9:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11am in the Mont Vernon Congregational Church, 4 South Main Street, Mont Vernon and will be followed by a short reception. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Daland Memorial Library Fund, P.O. Box 335, Mont Vernon, NH 03057 or to an organization of your choice in the Town of Mont Vernon.
