Perry Cloutier

Perry Cloutier, 70 of Milford, New Hampshire passed away on April 18, 2019 following complications from the flu and pneumonia at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on July 18, 1948, the son of Roland and Gladys Cloutier. One of six children, he was predeceased by his brothers Roger Cloutier, Richard Cloutier and sister Jeanne Umenhofer. Perry is survived by his wife, Rita (Mullen) Cloutier, daughters Sue White of Virginia Beach, VA, Heidi Cloutier of Amherst and step-son Mark Ellis, of Amherst, brothers Daniel Cloutier of Mont Vernon and Albert Cloutier of Honolulu, HI, eight grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Perry had many jobs he enjoyed throughout his life including owning his own construction company with his brother Roger, then moving on to his true love of servicing motorcycles at Nashua Honda and then opening his own motorcycle shop Cloutier’s Cycle in Milford. Perry owned and operated Cloutier’s Cycle for 40 years, which grew into servicing outdoor power equipment over the years. In recent years he joined the team at the Mount Vernon Highway Department and enjoyed 12 years there, servicing trucks, paving, snowplowing, and working outdoors. Every year he so looked forward to assisting in organizing the annual Mont Vernon Fishing Derby each spring and teaching children to fish. Perry had a great love of dogs and was a hunter, fisherman, photographer and true outdoorsman. He bought land in Antrim, NH and built a log cabin with two close friends, cutting the trees on the property, and notching the trees so there was only a total of 12 nails in the two-story cabin. They also tapped all the sugar maples there, running a gravity fed tapline down the hill, from tree to tree, collecting the sap at the bottom, and boiling it down with friends to make maple syrup in the sugar shack. Perry gained some local celebrity as a chainsaw artist, cutting rustic statues out of entire logs. His artwork was a bit like him, chiseled out of the woods, deeply rooted, a little rough around the edges, but with solid and true grain running throughout. Memorial visiting hours are on Friday, April 26th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street Milford, New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the 2020 Mont Vernon Fishing Derby Fund, which can be sent to the Town of Mont Vernon, NH and earmarked for the 2020 Fishing Derby.
