Patricia R. Mackie

Patricia R. Mackie, 72, resident of Fitchburg, MA, died on May 20, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. She was born in Holden, MA on October 14, 1942, a daughter of Ruth (Patterson) Temple of Centerville, MA and the late William Temple. Patricia resided in Fitchburg for several months and formerly made her home in Rutland, MA for many years and had also lived on Cape Cod. She enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Mary’s Church, Barnstable, MA and the First Congregational Church, Rutland, MA. She loved spending time outside and being surrounded by nature and watching birds. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family and doting on her three grandchildren. In addition to her mother, family members include a daughter, Shelby R. Hamel of Wilton, NH; a son, Christopher J. Mackie of Greenfield, NH; three grandchildren, Lillian, Christopher and Sara; three brothers, Russell Temple of Shrewsbury, MA, Roger Temple of Centerville, MA and Douglas Temple of Sandwich, MA; and her former husband, James E. Mackie. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on June 20th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the Wachusett Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary, 113 Goodnow Road, Princeton, MA 01541. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or to Massachusetts Audubon Society.
