Oliver M. Ames

Oliver M. “Butch” Ames, 71, resident of Brookline, NH, died on March 15, 2014 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wayland, MA on June 7, 1942, a son of Herbert and Eleanor (Young) Ames. He was raised and educated in Wayland and made his home in Brookline, NH for the past 24 years. Butch was self-employed in the residential demolition business for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed ice fishing and gardening and an avid animal lover. In addition, he loved to play cards and cribbage. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Family members include his wife of 24 years, Judith A. (Courage) Ames of Brookline, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Richard Wilder of Princetown, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, Oliver M. “Butchie” Ames, Jr. and Lisa Ames of Norway, ME; three stepdaughters, Sheryl Corey and her husband, Charlie, Brenda Hooper and her husband, John, all of Brookline, Amy Tafe and her Girlfriend, Tina Otte of Milford; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Mona Ames of FL; 11 grandchildren, Lillian Wilder, Sophia Wilder, Jessica Royea and her husband JP, Charles Corey, Jr., Jonathan Hooper his wife Rachael, Joshua Hooper and his wife Mallory, Nathan Tafe, Meaghan Tafe and Jacob Tafe; six great grandchildren, William Hooper, Logan Hooper, Blake Hooper, Gavin and Aubree Royea and Liam Oliver Tafe. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, March 18th from 5:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Brookline Community Church, 2 Main Street, Brookline. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Brookline.
