Nellie M. Brown, 91, resident of Nashua, NH, died November 18, 2011 at the Milford Medical Center, Milford, NH. She was born in East Corinth, Maine on August 14, 1920, a daughter of John and Alice N. (Freeman) Whitney. She was raised and educated in Maine and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and remained an active alumni till the end. Mrs. Brown resided in Nashua for several years and formerly made her home in Milford for over 40 years She had been employed as a teacher and librarian for the Brookline, NH School District and as a substitute school teacher at Milford Area Senior High School. While living in Milford, Mrs. Brown attended the First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC and was currently an active member of the Laura G. Heald Club. She enjoyed theater, art, music, traveling, playing bridge and was a member of the Souhegan Valley Seniors. In addition, Mrs. Brown was an active community volunteer in both Nashua and Milford. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl R. Brown, who died in 1991. Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond W. Brown and Deborah Fischer-Brown of San Francisco, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda E. and John (Randy) Clark of Stoddard, NH; 2 married grandchildren, Jason R. Clark and Shauna M Tussing. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at 1:00 pm in The First Congregational Church of Milford, UCC, 10 Union Street, Milford. Burial will be in Corinthian Cemetery, East Corinth, Maine, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Pi Beta Phi Foundation, 1154 Town & Country Commons Drive, Town & Country, MO 63017 or The Laura G.
