Nathaniel Howland Rorick, Jr. left this earth unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep on 28 July 2022. Nate lived a colorful life, he canoed down the Allagash and Penobscot Rivers in Maine. He loved fishing, the outdoors, and his fluffball cat PITA. He had an eclectic taste in music and had a song for every mood and situation. He had a penchant for razzing everyone around him just to provoke a reaction and ruffle some feathers. He drank coffee like it was his job and ate ice cream and peanut butter cups like the world was ending. He loved his family and friends and did his best to right his wrongs and figure out his missteps and do better to the best of his ability. He was loyal and tough, sensitive and introspective. He was predeceased by his father (Nathaniel Sr.), and his sister (Joan) who was his confidante and partner-in-crime. Sadly, he was also predeceased by his son (Joshua Gordon) and much-too-recently predeceased by his daughter (Melissa Duffy) who was one of the lights in his life. He is survived by his beloved wife Janice Rorick, who is credited with getting him on the right path and loving him through thick and thin, and by his son Michael Stromsnes and his family. He will be missed dearly by the mother who raised him, Carol Rorick, and by his sisters Beth Longolucco, Dorothy Ross, and Andrea Bernard, as well as his first wife Kim Shanahan, their children LeeAnn Brine (Justin), Kaitlin Berry (James), and Tony Rorick (Courtney) and their respective families. We all struggle to think that he’s no longer at the other end of our telephone call, or throwing a line out for the fish, or brewing coffee in the kitchen. We all will remember him in our own ways and collectively are thankful for the impact that his 62 years has made on each of us. May he simultaneously rest in peace and raise some Cain with those who went before him. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13th at 10:00am in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. A casual gathering at Keyes Field (outside) in Milford will follow the service. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home.
