Nancy S. Ashford, 92, resident of Weare, NH, died on October 11, 2016 at the CRVNA Hospice House, Concord, NH. She was born on May 15, 1924 in Surry, NH, a daughter of Harrie and Ellen (Newton) Scripture. Nancy was raised and educated in Surry and Keene, and graduated from Keene Teachers College. She was an elementary school teacher in Milford for many years and later worked at the former Souhegan National Bank in Milford, NH. Nancy was an avid gardener and enjoyed collecting bells and postcards. She was a Sunday school teacher, a scout leader and volunteered at the Milford Historical Society. In addition, she enjoyed travel and made five trips to Europe. She most especially loved spending time with her family and being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband Wayne Ashford, who died in 1977. Family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Arnold W. and Toni Ashford of Manchester, NH; a daughter and son-in-law with whom she lived, Ellen and Dennis Cluche of Weare, NH; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at 10:00am in Riverside Cemetery, 454 Nashua Street, Milford, NH. Donations in her memory may be made to Breathe New Hampshire, 145 Hollis Street, Unit C, Manchester, NH 03101, Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire, 545 NH 101, Bedford, NH 03110 or CRVNA Hospice House, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301.
