Nancy Pollock, a longtime resident of Wilton, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 13, 2021. For anyone that knew her, she was 85 years young. Nancy was born in Hoboken, New Jersey on December 10, 1935, to John and Louise (Hendl) Nussberger. As a young child during the Depression, Nancy and her family lived in many places, moving often to wherever her father, a bricklayer, could find work. Sadly, at just six years old, Nancy lost her mother and the following year, her father was drafted and joined the Navy in May of 1943. Nancy stayed with her mother's family until she and her father were reunited in late 1945. Her father remarried in 1947 and Nancy, her stepmother Marion and baby sister, Carol moved into their new home in Newington, CT in late 1948. Nancy graduated Newington High School in 1953 and worked as a bank teller in Hartford until leaving Connecticut to attend college at the University of New Hampshire in the fall of 1954. There she met John "Jack" Pollock whom she married in September 1955. Following Jack's graduation from UNH in 1956, Nancy and Jack lived in Syracuse, NY then bases in San Antonio, TX, Mariana, FL and St. Paul, MN, during Jack’s service in the U.S.A.F. starting their family along the way. In 1960, they settled in Nashua with their young family where they lived for 13 years. In 1973 they moved to Lyndeborough and in 1977 moved to Wilton where they remained long-term residents. With her love for people, Nancy enjoyed working as a bank teller at Indian Head Bank in Wilton, at Label Art, as a secretary at WLC, and at Special Hermetic Products, Inc. finally retiring in 1996. As much as Nancy enjoyed her involvement with people and her work, her passion and love and expertise was as an incredible, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and home maker. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, walking and had incredible talent for sewing, including making clothing for her young children and sewing her own curtains. In recent years, Nancy especially enjoyed getting out for her weekly tasks of banking, grocery shopping and her trips to the WRC and visiting with all of you, catching up with the ones she had the good luck of running into and of course, frequent trips to Lowes. Best of all, she cherished the weekend visits with her sister, Carol, which always involved a difficult jigsaw puzzle, steak on the grill and the traditional trip to Giorgio's in Milford. There was no better person to have a deep conversation with. Nancy had incredibly sound views on all aspects of life and would always know just how to insert some good humor into an otherwise awkward or negative situation. She was our rock and we were so incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful person to be part of our lives for so long. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Jack in 2012. They were married 57 years. She is survived by her beloved children, son John Pollock and wife Peggy of Rowley, MA; son Rand Pollock of Nashua; daughter Lori Jensen of Manchester; daughter Wendy Cheney of Wilton; surrogate-son Matt Harwood; grandchildren Benjamin Pollock and wife Erin, Amanda Stumpf and husband Brandon and Alexander Pollock, Maddie Cheney & Sam, MacKenzie Cheney and John, and Andrew Jensen; 3 beautiful great grandchildren Donovan, Anneliese & Hadley; her beloved sister, Carol Sullivan and husband David of Storrs, CT; and numerous relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the emergency personnel of the Wilton Police Department, Fire Department and Ambulance. You are incredible people to do what you do. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Nancy's name to our local emergency services or their fundraising efforts.
