Nancy Aldrich D’Amato passed away on Wednesday, February 18th with her family by her side. Nancy was born on December 10, 1940 to Homer and Dorothy (Berry) Aldrich of Sugar Hill, NH. Nancy attended school in Sugar Hill and graduated from Dow Academy High School in 1958. She attended Plymouth State College and graduated in 1962 with a teaching degree. She moved to Milford to teach school in 1963 and met her husband, Richard, that same year. They were married in 1965 and were just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Nancy loved to read and went to work in the Wadleigh Memorial Library after her daughter started school. She loved traveling and visited many countries including England, France, Italy and Germany and also enjoyed trips to the Bahamas. She was a wonderful cook and baker and her desserts were enjoyed by all. Nancy was a very active member of The First Congregational Church of Milford, having served on many committees and as a deaconess. She volunteered much of her time for the Share Program, was a member of the “Lunch Bunch”, the Lioness Club and Milford Historical Society. Nancy was predeceased by her parents and older brother, Roger Aldrich and brother-in-law, Jim D’Amato. She will be sorely missed by her husband, Richard D’Amato of Milford; her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy D’Amato Lagrimas and John Lagrimas; and beloved grandson, Myles, all of Westwood, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Christine D’Amato of Milford and Nancy Aldrich of Sugar Hill, NH; her nephew, Tony D’Amato of Concord, NH; three nieces, Elena Ling of Connecticut, Debbie Aldrich and Kathie Aldrich Cote, both of Sugar Hill, NH; and many, many friends. A memorial service will be held on April 18, 2015 at 11:00 am in the First Congregational Church of Milford, 10 Union Street, Milford, NH followed by a reception at the Parish House. The family asks anyone wishing to make a donation in Nancy’s name to give to Share Outreach, Inc. 1 Columbus Avenue, Milford, NH 03055.
