Muriel G. Wheeler, 90, longtime resident of Milford, NH died on February 7, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nashua, NH. She was born in Bridgeport, CT on August 30, 1922, a daughter of Kenneth and Hazel (Bradshaw) Goodsell. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Stratford High School, Stratford, Connecticut in 1940. She married Everett Wheeler, February 14, 1942. Mrs. Wheeler made her home in Milford for more than 69 years. Mrs. Wheeler spent her life working with children. She was a scout leader from Brownie’s through Senior Scouts and was a mother advisor for the Milford Rainbow Girls. She worked as a teachers aid at the Jacques and Bales schools in Milford and also the Brick school in Amherst. She taught kindergarten at the Souhegan Valley Christian Kindergarten, Milford. She also enjoyed helping home-school her grandchildren. For many years she conducted a local nursing home ministry, visiting the patients and leading a weekly Bible study. She was a former member of the Milford First Baptist Church. In addition, she was the Superintendent of Sunday school for 25 years, Director of their Vacation Bible School Program, and for many years enjoyed helping in the church nursery. In her later years, she attended the Amherst Christian Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett H. Wheeler in 2011, an infant daughter, Beverly Muriel Wheeler in 1942 and a brother Kenneth (Bud) Goodsell Jr. Family members include two daughters, Janice Kenyon and Nancy Powers, both of Keene, NH; two sons, Donald Wheeler of North Berwick, ME and David Wheeler of Milford; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10:00 am in the Amherst Christian Church, 134 Hollis Road, Amherst, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Share Outreach, 1 Columbus Avenue, Milford, NH 03055.
