Michael P. Purington

Michael P. Purington, 73, a long-time resident of New Hampton, NH, recently a resident of Mont Vernon, NH died on June 20, 2023, at his home after a period of declining health with his family and his devoted cat, Tubby by his side.

He was born on January 7, 1950 in Candia, NH, son of Herman (Junior) and Sally (Dolores Decato) Purington. Michael was raised and educated in the Candia area and graduated from Raymond High School in 1968. As a teenager, Michael played baseball in high school. After graduation, he proudly worked as a lineman on the power lines through Franconia Notch.

Through the 80’s and 90’s, Michael worked at various machine shops in Manchester, Bristol and Concord.

Before illness prevented him from working, Michael worked as a deburrer at Corbeil Enterprises in Bristol, NH. In his younger years he spent his free time hunting, fishing, and ice-fishing. He enjoyed reading about the Civil War and World War II and of course had an abiding love for John Wayne. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Diane, at their house. On the weekends he could be found puttering in his garage drinking his Old Milwaukee.

He is predeceased by both of his parents; Herman (Junior) and Sally (Dolores Decato) Purington.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane of Mont Vernon, NH. He is also survived by his children Michael (Sandra) Purington of Londonderry, NH; Jodi (Carlo) Patrizzi of Tampa Fl; Shannon (Byron) Stepner of Las Vegas, NV; Jonathan Purington; Jodie-Lynn Corbeil (Barrett Christina) of Dover, NH; and Susan (Zach) Johnson of Mont Vernon, NH; and his brothers Gerald (Linda) Purington of Loudon, NH; Randall (Molly) Purington of Florida; and Mark (Sandra) Purington of Charlottesville, Virginia; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

SERVICES: In accordance with his wish’s cremation has taken place and services will be held privately for his family and friends at a date to be announced.
