It is with deep sorrow that the family of Michael “Mike” Larivee, announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the age of 64.
Born on March 12, 1958, in Manchester, New Hampshire he was the son of the late Alberta and Gill Larivee. Mike was raised in Manchester and graduated from West High School in 1976. He earned an Associate’s degree from the New Hampshire Vocational School.
Mike is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Michelle “Mickey”, and his three daughters; Meredith (Kyle) and their two children Millie (5) and Teddy (3); Chelsea (Scott) and their two children Jack (2) and Scottie (9m) and Mickenzie, who will be marrying her high school sweetheart, Jake, in a beautiful Boston wedding in May 2023.
Mike’s profession was one of his passions. He was working on cars before he could tie his own shoes and in 1986 he moved to Amherst and purchased Bob’s Auto Service and made it his own- Mike’s Auto Service.
Mike’s Auto was a staple in the community. From giving away full size candy bars at Halloween to filling up kids bike tires with air. With his wonderful wife by his side they ran a successful business.
But the most profound success of Mike’s life was his three daughters.
To say he will be missed is an understatement. He was our life. Mike was a very simple man yet he married and created such complex, strong women. Everything about him was authentic. Strong family core values were what he drilled into all of us. He was the last person you would ever want to disappoint and the first person you wanted on your side.
Mike and Mickey just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Looking back at the memories that were made, hard times and good, miles near and far, it was always centered around their 3 girls. Countless games, school visits, family events and sometimes just a visit because it had been too long.
He always made such great decisions so quickly because he was so true to himself and his moral compass was unmatched. Anyone that knew him knew he was genuine, reliable and there was a life lesson to be learned without even knowing. All qualities that made him the best dad any child could ask for.
There was never a time his daughters didn’t know how much they were loved or how proud he was of them. He left nothing unsaid.
More recently Mike was seen holding one of his four grandchildren, Millie and Teddy, children of Meredith and Kyle and Jack and Scottie, children of Chelsea and Scott.
What Mickey wants everyone to know is how much he was loved and how much he loved us. He would always say “what if this is heaven?” Mickey would question him and say what? He’d say “no really, maybe we are already in heaven” that’s why his family can feel some peace because he thought his life was heaven. We learned you don’t wait to take that trip, you don’t wait to say how proud you are of each other and how much you are loved. He would say, “Sometimes parents ask their children to always do the right thing, get good grades, be a nice person, work hard and then the kids do everything you have asked them to do but it’s up to the parents to belly up, reward them. Give back to them the way they gave to us.“
Mike had no intention of going anywhere. He still had so much love to give. He will be so missed by everyone.
