Melvin G. Pfeifer Jr. of Manchester, N.H. passed away December 6, 2024 at Elliot Hospital, due to injuries sustained from a car accident. Mel was 53 years old. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death. Surviving family include siblings: Tim/Danna Pfeifer of Washougal, WA, David/Ann Pfeifer of Nashua, NH, Julie/Tom Nardozzi of Manchester, NH, Andrew Pfeifer of Manchester, NH. Stepsister Tricia Burpee of Pennsylvania. Nieces, Robyn Sparkes/Andrew of Klamath Falls, OR, and MacKenzie Pfeifer of Washougal, WA.
Mel was preceded in death by his father, Melvin G. Pfeifer Sr., mother, Julia A Pfeifer, stepmother, Judy M Pfeifer. Brother Paul R Pfeifer, and infant brothers Mel Pfeifer and John Pfeifer.
Mel attended elementary and middle school in Amherst, NH. He attended Bishop Guertin High School, graduating in 1990. While at Bishop Guertin Mel excelled in varsity football and lacrosse. After high school Mel attended the University of New Hampshire Manchester for continuing education classes. He later began a career in the restaurant industry working his way through various positions and eventually reaching his goal of becoming a chef. Along with his brother Andrew, he opened his own restaurant, Patrick’s Country Restaurant in Goffstown, NH. At his restaurant Mel developed a loyal group of customers who appreciated fine dining cuisine. His family and out of town friends and guests were always treated with an outstanding fine dining experience. Mel always took care of his family and friends with outstanding dishes he would bring to gatherings. Mel was widely renowned in the Manchester area for his culinary talents and had patrons follow him wherever he worked.
Known for his compassion to help anyone who needed it, Melvin would feed anyone who was hungry and get them warm clothes in the winter. He was generous to others who needed a hand. Mel could tell a story like few others could. His humorous ways and jovial spirit could light up the darkest room and those that knew him well would attest to and recall his tales. Melvin was a fun-loving guy who was a master prankster that always made you laugh, and stories will live on forever.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 12th from 10:00am to 1:00pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:00pm in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH. The family requests that donations in his name be sent to the American Cancer Society.
